I presented this project in my Theoretical Frameworks of Education class. I studied Eastern Philosophies and looked at how we could use their frameworks to improve our educational practices. Eastern Philosophy focuses more on the collective and less on the individual. I learned that we use a lot of Eastern Philosophy ideas in our therapy. I introduced one to the class called “what I can control.” Everyone drew a circle on their page and in the middle of the circle they wrote all the things that they can control. Outside of the circle they wrote all the things that they cannot control. At the bottom of the page they wrote “I will not stress about the things I cannot control.”
This project reminded me that in my teaching practice I need to remember that my students come from all different walks of life and their view points might be different then mine.
